Mind/Body Connection…?

I have  a plane ticket that claims I will land at 7:12pm.  Not 7 or 7:30pm, not even the perfectly respectable 7:15pm–no–exactly 7:12pm.
That got me wondering…what’s the science behind this fake precision?  I mean, we all know I’m not landing at 7:12pm.
I guess it’s like me telling a client that today’s cardio will be 42 [...]

Anti-Cancer Diet

Posted on September 21, 2008. Filed under: CoreMatters today | Tags: , , |

The third part of Dr. David Servan-Schriber’s prescription for boosting our bodies’ natural cancer fighting abilities is a call to improve our diets.
Dr. Servan-Schriber suggests we:

Eat grass-fed organic meat, dairy products, and eggs
Reduce our intake of sugar, white flour and products containing omega-6 fatty acids (sunflower oil, soybean oil, margarines, hydrogenated fats)

Naturally Cancer-Free?

Posted on September 17, 2008. Filed under: CoreMatters today |

Our bodies have a natural capacity to protect us from cancer.  After all, if 1 in 4 Westerners die of cancer, then 3 of 4 do not.  Why not?  Their defense mechanisms work.  Really well.  According to Dr. David Servan-Schreiber writing in his new book Anticancer:  A New Way of Life, “The trick is to [...]

Need a New Diet? Figure it Out!

Posted on September 16, 2008. Filed under: CoreMatters today |

My poor kids. I’m always telling them to figure it out. Take a look at a situation or a problem, and step by step, figure it out.
For me, the same thing has happened with my health.
Life has gotten busy and  I don’t have as much exercise time as I used to have.
But I [...]

I am a ChiRunner.  But my running has suffered for nearly a year due to allergies and asthma.  I shouldn’t live where I do.  But I must.  So I try to adjust my diet and medication.  I think I have the right combination now.
But I am deconditioned.
So, I’m trying to use gradual progress, as I [...]

Are you aligned with what you’re doing?
Consider for a moment how important that is.
To move from point A to point B, we first need get everything about us pointed in that direction.  If our move is business-oriented, that means our plan must align with our direction.  Our employees.  Our finances.  Our advertising.  Our expectations.
If the [...]

Posted on September 7, 2008. Filed under: CoreMatters today | Tags: , , |

Seems I’m stuck on a running theme. This morning, I went with my daughter to a new trail and ran 3 times the distance I usually go, strictly on ChiRunning technique. I am quite thrilled and pleased with myself.
But what if you don’t run?
Well, tonight, I played ping pong with my other daughter. [...]
